About

Welcome to Magonia Research

At Magonia Research, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and technology in the fields of cybersecurity and aerospace research. Our mission is to conduct cutting-edge research and provide innovative solutions that advance these critical domains, benefiting both our clients and the broader scientific community.

Our Expertise

Our founder has been a leader in cybersecurity since 2006, having built and managed three Security Operations Centers (SOCs) — one for a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and two for Managed Detection and Response (MDR) providers. One of these SOCs earned the prestigious Cogswell Award from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), the highest honor for excellence in industrial security in the classified space, awarded to just 0.3% of eligible facilities each year.

Magonia Research is at the forefront of Detection as Code, pioneering some of the first public research in this space and setting best practices now adopted across the industry. We continue to lead through original detection engineering, adversary research, and contributions to open-source projects like Sigma, ensuring our clients and the broader community stay ahead of emerging threats.

Our Vision

Magonia Research envisions a future where advanced cybersecurity research and aerospace research is shared more openly to create a safer, more secure world. By continuously exploring new frontiers and sharing our discoveries, we strive to lead the way in both cyberspace and aerospace research.

What is Magonia?

Magonia, not magnolia, was a mythical land believed to exist above the clouds during the Middle Ages, particularly between the 8th and 9th centuries. It was said to be a realm of aerial ships and cloud-dwelling people who influenced weather and harvested crops from the earth below. These mysterious inhabitants were thought to possess advanced knowledge and technology, often interacting with the world through miraculous means. Magonia's stories painted it as a place of wonder and intrigue, challenging the understanding of the natural world.
